About Me
Professional
My foundation began with a BS in Elementary Education from BYU, driven by my lifelong belief in education's transformative power. I then taught at an arts academy, where I passionately integrated creative approaches across 1st grade, 2nd grade, 6th grade, and PE classes, discovering the joy of seeing students thrive with varied instructional methods.
While raising my children, my dedication to education never wavered—I channeled it into PTA board leadership and volunteer art teaching. Homeschooling my special-needs son during the pandemic became my crucible—researching and designing personalized curriculum that ignited his curiosity and confidence in ways traditional methods couldn't.
This deeply rewarding experience inspired me to pursue my Masters in Learning Design and Technology at the University of San Diego, formalizing my transition from teacher to designer with renewed enthusiasm.
Now I bring this complete perspective to instructional design, freed from classroom constraints to analyze problems and craft innovative solutions. My background gives me both the analytical precision of an educator and the empathetic understanding of a mother who's navigated diverse learning needs—all fueled by my unwavering commitment to creating learning experiences that truly change lives.
Personal
I grew up in Los Angeles, CA, and then lived just north of LA in Santa Clarita, CA for 13 years after college. My family moved to the Las Vegas area in Henderson, NV 3 years ago and are enjoying the change. I attended all music schools for my K-12 education, specializing in the violin and piano. I have since learned the organ, voice, and mandolin to my musical repertoire, and I enjoy teaching the next generation these beautiful instruments. I have 2 children, ages 13 and 15, a husband of 21 years, and a cockapoo named Bucky. My hobbies are gardening, reading, hiking, and exploring anywhere new, especially if it has trees and mountains. Fun fact: I love gnomes and even make them for each season and holiday.
